Hey Everyone!

I am so very sorry that I have not been diligent in recording my progress, I feel awful! I have been studying and trying to keep up with the random things life throws at me. But! I have got my newest stats for you!

Weight: 138lbs (Not much of a change unfortunately)
Body Measurements (Inches)
Neck: 13 1/8
Shoulders: 42 1/4
Chest: 38 1/4
Mid: 28 1/8
Waist: 33 1/2
Hips: 39 3/4
Thigh: 22 5/8
Calf: 15 7/8

I have been eating healthy as of late, it did take me a little while to really clean it up and not give into stress eating plus there was Thanksgiving that really was a challenge not to eat everything until I was so stuffed! I'm going to work hard until those final measurements at the end of the year! There is 4 weeks left!! I am hoping to see myself down to 130 lbs. I will work hard!! I have been eating salads, fruit and veggies as well as watching how much I eat. I actually went through and made boxes of salads that were the correct serving size (1 cup) and I added a nice marinated slice of chicken with it for a healthy, light lunch.

Another thing I want to add! I am the kind of person who works to do things herself, I hate taking any kind of medicine because I feel like its somewhat like cheating since our bodies are designed to take care of itself. I like to think of my body as a machine, its only as good as I make it to be. If I take care of it and feed it the right fuels it will work as its supposed to. However, that being said, I have started to take a few products from Advocare. I do not consider it as a medicine, a pill or a magic charm. I have done research into it before deciding to splurge and give it a shot to work. The products are natural, vitamin filled and not what a lot of companies sell as a "magic-will-do-wonders" product. One of my friends got me a few samples of Advocare's Spark (I mentioned it in one of my posts) and I loved it! The contents are vitamins and they help boost your system up and energizes you. I have never consistently gotten up before my alarm clock before or when it did finally go off jump out of bed ready to go. I am on the 24 Day Challenge, day #12. Even if I don't loose weight on this challenge, I honestly feel good. I feel healthier. Even when I caught a cold over break, I was 99% functional unlike normal (Normally I would be lethargic). I'll be posting before and after photos at the very end as well as my stats :)

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Hello!

Yesterday was my first day of eating food other than apples. I felt really good and still stayed pretty healthy! I stopped eating once I was a little full and then I drank water to fill in the gaps. I felt really good - a little stuffed just simply because some of the foods are a lot "heavier" in the stomach than apples. I weighed myself yesterday morning and was still a happy 133lbs.

This morning I wasn't able to weigh myself because I was running a little late to class. However, I expect it to be more than 133. This morning is going good so far and I am really enjoying each and every bite of food! The flavors are amazing :D

Anyways! I'll see you soon!

And Break!

Hello!

So I finally broke my fast tonight! I had some grapes to start with and half a corn cob. After a half hour or so I had the rest of the corn. I found myself needing something "green" and salty an hour or so later so I ate some snap peas. Finally I had 1 slice of turkey breast for protein after another half hour. Oh! No, I lied, I had a couple of crackers to help things settle. I feel really good! A little full right now with my glass of warm water, but I felt really great coming off the fast :) Happy me!

Well! We'll see how the next several weeks go! Until next time!

Last Day! Day #3

Good Afternoon!

I stepped on the scale this morning and my stats were:

Yesterday: 136 lbs
Today: 133 lbs

A three pound drop in all the nasty build up I had in my system. How gross is that?? Anyways, I am continuing my fast until this evening when I will begin introducing other foods to my diet again. I plan on eating a cob of corn and space it out over an hour or so just so my body doesn't reject it. I am not craving food though, I feel no want to eat at all which is nice :) I have had problems with appetite control in the past so it is really refreshing for me not to want food. I am a little tired, but I also ran this morning and taught my yoga/pilates class at 6 and 7:30 AM respectively.

I only have 3 apples left in the bag that I brought for this purpose. I'll use that to determine when I'll have dinner because with the apple diet you eat an apple when you are hungry. I plan on using this method after I stop the fast to ensure that I don't over eat or just eat out of boredom or stress. I am really happy with the results though! My skin seems to be clearer and brighter, my mood is more even (I'm usually really hyper), and I don't feel that hungry like you would expect. Still, my favorite part is that I am not craving a certain food! Before this fast, I will admit that I was craving sweet things so much! Ice cream, chocolate, foo foo drinks from Starbucks and whatnot. I still would enjoy the taste of it; but I am no longer craving it.

Anyways! I'm going to continue on with my day and we will see what this evening brings :)
Have a great day!

The End of Day #2

Hello!

You know those times when you set out to do something then you feel like you can't make it and give up because you had a minor set back? I won't be doing that this time. I promised that I would do a 3 day fast and I will. Yes, I ate some grapes because I really needed energy to study for my exam on Thursday and I'm pretty sure I have a run day tomorrow morning. But! I refuse to allow a few grapes to stop my plans! Besides that, grapes are very powerful antioxidants and so I didn't do anything harmful to my body either. I'm going to continue with apples in the morning and finish out my 3 days strong!

Today I had 2 glasses of my apple juice mix, 5 apples and some grapes. I've had about 100.5 oz of water on top of that.

Goodnight everyone! I hope you all have a great evening :)

Evening of Day #2

Hello!

I was doing great the whole day until evening came and I began feeling really lethargic. After doing some serious thinking and research I found a sight that said that a person can begin ending their fast on the evening of day 2 because the fast is only 1-3 days long. I figured since I have an exam on Thursday and I need to study, I would incorporate some light food. I ate some grapes which are really healthy for the body to give me a little boost to study. I still feel 100% better than I did before I started the fast but I think I will need to end it earlier than planned.

I had 84.5 oz of water today so far. I think I will drink some more before I go to bed.

Morning of Day #2

Hello!

I was too excited to not share with everyone! I woke up this morning and literally, LITERALLY, jumped out of bed! I haven't had this much energy since...well... a long while! I was revving to go! I had a swimming workout this morning and I was a little nervous because swimming takes a lot of strength, endurance and energy. I drank Advocare's Spark drink before I left and THAT WAS IT! I was a beast in the water! Not to sound like I was boasting or anything, but I normally hate swimming for a workout because I just feel so ungraceful, sluggish and like I'm swimming through molasses. Awful. Not this morning though! This morning I felt like I was a shark in the water and I felt like I was sliding through the water almost effortlessly. I did run into a little bit of decline twice during the workout, but after breather I was back to full force. It was amazing!
Anyways, I will see how it goes! I had an apple after my workout and apple juice mix too and a full bottle of water on top of that.

Stats:
Yesterday I was: 139 lbs - I think I had too much salt the night before and was retaining the water weight? What do you think?
Today I am: 136 lbs

Have a great day and I will post something else tonight :)

Day #1 Of Fast

Hey Guys!

I will admit I am really hating the fact that I ate so much junk food and had a lot of caffeine last week... I'm feeling the effects of it leaving my body.

Today I had 5 apples (4 little ones and 1 medium large one) and apple juice mix with apple cider vinegar. The drink is to help keep things flowing through my system and keep my metabolism working. As of now, I feel really good! I am not hungry, but I do have the muchies for something with a different flavor. I have a slight headache and I am not sure if that is because of lack of unnatural sugar/caffeine or if it is because I didn't drink enough water. I need to keep track of my water intake. I am a little tired, but not horrible. I know Day #1 is the hardest to get through! Especially if I am surrounded by really yummy smelling foods and watching other people eat foods I enjoy, but I really wasn't craving anything to eat. To be honest, I had to make myself eat an apple for lunch because I was just not hungry even though my stomach was growling like a savage beast. Tomorrow will be an interesting day for sure because I will have a swimming workout in the morning and about 4 hours of classes... so we'll see! But thus far I feel pretty dang good!

That's it from me today! Goodnight everyone!

Restricted Foods/Drinks Until Christmas

As much as I love the following foods as much as the next person; I really want to see a change in my body in 8 weeks. I am going to base what I'm not going to eat off of the Paleo Diet. It's worked before so I'm hoping to get on it again after my 3 day apple fast. As with any diet plan, it is necessary to tailor it to fit your lifestyle; I do not think I can ever go on a strict Paleo Diet, however, I can take what I think works for me and make my own "diet".

  • Dairy. Including butter, milk, cream & any dairy product that comes from a cow, goat or sheep. I may still have yogurt because I really find that healthy for me but in limited amounts. Cheese will be allow in very limited amounts.
  • Grains. Including bread or any gluten-free pseudo grains like sorghum, teff, quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat, etc. I already very rarely eat breads, but I will continue to eat rice, oats, flax seeds and chia in limited amounts.
  • Legumes. Including beans of all kinds (soy, black, kidney, pinto, etc.), peas, lentils and peanuts. I will finish the rest of my peanut butter that I already have but after I won't buy anymore during this time period.
  • Concentrated sweeteners, real or artificial. Including sugar, high fructose corn syrup, maple syrup, honey, agave, brown rice syrup, Splenda, Equal, Nutrasweet, xylitol, stevia, etc.
  • Processed or refined foods. As a general rule, if it comes in a bag or a box, don’t eat it. This also includes highly processed “health foods” like protein powder, energy bars, dairy-free creamers, etc.
  • Sodas and diet sodas.
  • White potatoes. White potatoes are in the nightshade family and can cause inflammation in certain people. Yams and sweet potatoes are not nightshades and don’t have this effect.
I will be allowed one cheat day/meal a week to allow for any treats in a small amount.

Starting my journey

Hello!

I have decided to start keeping a journal of my journey to fitness. I will be 100% honest and I will do my best to post at least weekly about my progress, my food intake and whatever else I can think of. I hope this will help me be better about doing the right thing for my body and maybe gain support :) I know that the more people know about your goals the harder it is to say "Well... I can do it tomorrow...right?"

So! Here is my current stats:

Height: 5 foot 3.5 inches (I like to say 5 foot 4... short people problems)
Weight: 137.5 lbs
Goal weight: 125 lbs

I would really like to be hitting 130 lbs by Christmas. That is in 8 weeks. In essence I have to loose a little more than a pound a week. From here on out I promise myself (With the exception of Thanksgiving) I will not eat sweets or fast foods (Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Jimmy Johns, ect.) or consume caffeinated drinks except for tea, I will eat slowly (I have a huge problem with inhaling my food...), and I will eat small portions throughout the day.

To start my plans I will go on a 3 day apple fast. I have done this fast before and it really helps clean out the body and jump start it leaving it feeling refreshed and healthy. I love it! Then, I will start eating normally but in small portions throughout the day and drink LOTS of water. I will not eat after 8PM to prevent unnecessary calories from entering my diet. I will keep a food log for the next 8 weeks.

Wish me luck! I will report my fast apple fast in three days starting tomorrow :)
